Cadillac Converj Starts Producing in 2012

A great concept announced at this year’s NAIAS in Detroit, Cadillac Converj is one of those green coupes that will make it into production in the next few years. And although we know most of the details, the Converj is going to feature a 16 kW lithium ion battery that will propel it for 40 miles and a 1.4 liter four cylinder engine to recharge whenever needed. Although for now General Motors is not ready to tell that it has a green light, our sources reported that in 2012 we’d be able to get behind the wheel for a “clean” drive. [via motortrend]

Paris Motor Show : Aston Martin one-77 Supercar

For those that can afford a £1million, I honestly think that Aston Martin’s new one-77 supercar is really going to be worth spending that much. The company just gave the press and us all, a sneak peak of what it will look like. Apparently just a concept at the moment, the veil covered prototype got everyones attention with its sleek look. Too bad there isn’t a production ready Aston Martin Rapide to accompany the new one-77. However, great marketing … they got my attention.

Ferrari California is in Paris

The Paris Motor Show this year, has a lot (A LOT) of hot stuff going on. For example, Ferrari’s new baby, the California has been unveiled (officially) and boy that thing looks neat. I can see it designed for the lovely sunny beaches in California, it has an aluminum hardtop - keeping weight down - that only takes 14 seconds to open or close.

With a cute “little” 4.3-litre V8 engine inside that develops nothing less than 460 hp the new Ferrari California goes to 100km/h in less than 4 seconds and tops at 310km/h. But the engine seems to be very well optimized … It will take 13.1-l of fuel for every 100km you drive, but … will emit 305.6 g\km in harmful CO2 (that I don’t like). If you can afford it, then you should know it comes with various suspension settings, a new 7-speed double-clutch gearbox, satellite navigation and some other goodies for large pockets.

Peugeot RC HYmotion4 - Parisian Concept

PSA Peugeot Citroen just managed to amaze everyone at the Paris Motor Show the other day, when they showcased the new all-wheel-drive diesel-electric hybrid powertrain called HYmotion4. It’s already used on the Hypnos and Prologue with a 2.0-liter HDi diesel engine with FAP particulate filter for the front wheels and an electric motor for the rear wheels - that outputs 200hp, a six-speed automated gearbox, a 68 mpg fuel efficiency and only 109 g/km of CO2, that sounds like a deal.

However the newest RC Hymotion4 concept (in the pictures above and below) is a four-door GT that sports a total of 313 hp from a 1.6 litre THP engine that outputs 218 bhp and a 70 W electric engine that sports 95hp. All these with only 109 g/km of CO2 emissions that will “eat” 4.5 litres of fuel for every 100 km. Oh and if you were interested in knowing how fast it is, it does 0 to 100km/h in just 4.4 seconds. Great for a hybrid, right?

Ugliest Mustang in the World?

We usually don’t write about ugly cars on CarBlog but that thing honestly deserves an article. Presented during SEMA 2008, this is probably the ugliest Mustang you’ll ever get to see, unless they come up with a worse version, next year. Dubbed the “Hardcore Knight” Mustang, it was designed by the guys at Rich Evans Designs who wants to produce 100 limited editions of that … thing. Though I wish him the best of luck, I don’t think during the biggest financial crisis, people will pay big bucks for an ugly car. Do you? - via AutoBlog

REITER Lamborghini LP670 R-SV Revealed stakes its claim for the GT World Championship

This might be one of the cars at the GT World Championship provided the race devil makes the cut that where FIA chooses only 6 monikers. The REITER Lamborghini LP670 R-SV is based on the Lamborghini’s Murcielago Street-legal LP 670-4 SuperVeloce and was unveiled on the occasion of the 24 hours of Spa, the third such car to let go the veil here. The REITER Lamborghini betters it predecessor Murcielago R-GT with the carbon-fiber usage on the exterior and vastly improved aerodynamics.

reiter-lamborghini-lp670-r-sv

Under the hood is a ‘stronger’ 6.5 V12 beast producing 670 PS / 493 kW and the restrictor isn’t there, which helps the RS-V register 660 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm. The Engine Control is regulated by the FIA-ECU from Magneti Marelli. The measurements of this car at 4800 mm length and is 2058 mm width with an overall weight of 1,150kg (plus Ballast) helps it meet the FIA 2010 regulations.
